Hello, I am trying to create a puppetdb query that will return a hash of facts for each certname something like the following (which is not valid) `facts[certname,value]{ name = 'operatingsystemrelease' or name = 'kernelrelease' group by certname}` I am essentially trying to return a specific set of facts for each certname available, but having a lot of trouble trying to figure it out. any help would be much appreciated. or maybe I will have to run multiple queries and smash the hashes together after the facts (which seems really inefficient)

Puppet apply error (Error: Failed to apply catalog: uninitialized constant Aws::EC2). Pls help debug.

Hi, I have just installed puppet and it seemed to work for a hello world test (create a temp file). Next I installed puppetlabs-aws module (along with aws-sdk gem), but i am not able to make it work. Every time i try to use any aws module construct (security group, ec2) i get the below error: **Error: Failed to apply catalog: uninitialized constant Aws::EC2**. Currently I am trying to use command **puppet apply -t** on the puppet server node only. On googling I found that error is due to mismatch among the aws module and gem library (v1 vs v2), but i do seem to have v2 aws module and 3.6 aws-sdk, so both seem to be v2 or above.. Please help me debug the error. Thanks.

Hi, While testing a file creation to a single node (works) I decided to include in the same manifest the change of selinux to permissive (in case it is enabled). My manifest is called nodes.pp What am I missing? node 'myremotehost' { {class 'selinux'} file{'/info.txt': ensure => 'present', content => inline_template("Created by Puppet at <%= Time.now %>\n"), } } #create class that will set to permissive the above node(s) # # # Class selinux::permissive # class selinux::permissive inherits selinux { exec { 'disable-selinux': command => '/usr/sbin/setenforce permissive', onlyif => '/usr/sbin/selinuxenabled', unless => '/usr/sbin/sestatus |egrep -si "current mode: * permissive"', } file { '/etc/selinux/config': source => 'puppet:///selinux/permissive', mode => 0644, } }

I am using the following manifest to untar a file. I tried the below code to untar the file. file { '/home/testuser/apache-tomcat-7.0.82.tar.gz': source => '/home/testuser/apache-tomcat-7.0.82.tar.gz' notify => Exec['untar'], } file { '/home/testuser/puppetMod1/': ensure => 'directory', mode => '1777', owner => 'testuser', group => 'testuser', } exec { 'untar': command => 'tar -xvf /home/testuser/apache-tomcat-7.0.82.tar.gz -C /home/testuser/puppetMod1', cwd => '/home/testuser/', user => 'testuser', require => File["/home/testuser/puppetMod1/"], refreshonly => true, It creates the directory, unfortunately does not extract the .tar.gz file to the directory puppetMod1. So i tried a simple manifest as below to extract the .tar file. Even this one does not create the extract the .tar file. exec { 'untar': command => '/bin/tar -xzf /home/testuser/apache-tomcat-7.0.82.tar.gz -C /home/testuser/puppetMod2', creates => '/home/testuser/puppetMod2', user => 'testuser', # refreshonly => true, } For both the manifest, what am i missing. Can you through some lights what I can add to this code?

augeas and logrotate, add a postrate instead of reaplcing the existing one

$

Hi Folks, I'm trying to manage the /etc/logrotate.d/syslog file using augeas (then puppet) So first i'm trying to do that using augtool. basically, my goal is to add a postrotate rule in the "postrotate" section linked to /var/log/messages, whatever where is located this section and if a rule already exist . during my test I was able to create a postrotate rule, but it replace the existing one. How can we simply add a postrotate and not replace the existing one? For the moment I was able to replace any existing postrotate line with a single "test" word, by doing that: set /files/etc/logrotate.d/syslog/rule[file='/var/log/messages']/postrotate test the result is postrotate test endscript But again, my goal is to append the postrotate, not replace the existing one. Currently there is a postrotate like that: postrotate invoke-rc.d rsyslog rotate > /dev/null endscript my goal is to have something like that using augeas: postrotate invoke-rc.d rsyslog rotate > /dev/null test endscript Thx a lot in advance

no SLES on power agent?!

I installed Puppet Enterprise on some RedHat systems and it works well. Now I wanted to use puppet on my SLES 11 & 12 systems, too. As I tried to find the agent on the Puppet Master, I saw that there is no agent for SLES on power?! Is there no Puppet Enterprise agent for SLES on IBM Power systems? I also found, that there is a preinstalled Puppet agent on SLES, but it is the open source one and I didn´t get it to work with my Puppet Enterprise Master. Is it not possible or am I doing something wrong? I signed the certificate on the Puppet Master GUI, but the puppet run throws this error: ---------- > err: Could not retrieve catalog from> remote server: Error 500 on SERVER:> {"message":"Server Error: Could not> intern from b64_zlib_yaml: No format> match the given format name or> mime-type> (b64_zlib_yaml)","issue_kind":"RUNTIME_ERROR","stacktrace":["Warning:> The 'stacktrace' property is> deprecated and will be removed in a> future version of Puppet.
